Privacy Policy — Castamatic

Franco Solerio built the Castamatic app as a freemium, ad-supported application.

This page is used to inform Castamatic users about our policies regarding the collection, use, and disclosure of Personal Information.

Information we collect

We do not collect or use any personally identifiable information about our users. This includes email addresses, names, age, gender, and affiliation.

All user data is stored in the user’s own iCloud account, to which we have no access. Data stored in iCloud includes the URLs of subscribed podcasts and playback progress markers for listened episodes. Only the user has access to the data in their iCloud account, and Apple ensures its safety and privacy in accordance with iCloud policies.

Analytics

Like many other apps, we gather anonymous, aggregated statistics on app usage. This includes the number of podcasts listened to, how many times the app is opened during the day, and the percentage of users who subscribe to a podcast or use a particular feature. We also collect crash reports to find and fix bugs and to improve the app.

In-app ads

There are no more ads in Castamatic and no more tracking by third parties. We only display a banner reminding users that they can contribute and unlock additional features with Castamatic Premium.

Universal links

Castamatic lets users share a link to a podcast episode, optionally including a time marker to indicate the listening position. The server that provides these links stores no personal data about the user who initiates the sharing activity. The only data stored is the web server log file, which includes the date and time of access and the user’s IP address.

Third-party content

Castamatic displays content from third-party podcast feeds and websites, and downloads podcast files directly from the podcast owners’ servers. These third parties have their own privacy policies, and we have no responsibility or liability for their content or activities.
